D.G. Khan has announced plans to invest in a 30 billion rupees ($360 million) expansion project. Bloomberg reports “Pakistan's second-biggest producer plans … to build a factory at home and in Sri Lanka, aiming to double capacity and tap demand in South Asia and East Africa.”

The company has “plans to invest as much as 10 billion rupees to build a 2 million ton plant in Sri Lanka in partnership with the government … [and] another 20 billion rupees will be spent to build a 3 million ton factory at Hub near Karachi,” confirms Bloomberg.

Chief Executive Officer Mian Raza Mansha acknowledged the company is “concentrating on the East African market where demand is rising.” He also admitted Pakistani cement is a high demand product in India.

In the past, D.G. Khan Cement increased its cement capacity from 1.7 million tons to 4 million tons. By doubling the firm's capacity, they can increase sales to East Africa and South Asia, as well as India and Bangladesh. During the next quarter, the cement maker will focus on the sale of a rights share issue worth one billion rupees.
